Obituary: James Max Peterson
He was born February 19, 1939, in Price, Utah, to Karl Alma and Ethel Ruth Startup Peterson. He married Marva DeFriez on September 17, 1958, in Huntington, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 6, 1961.Jim worked in the integrated circuit industry throughout the U.S. His final years were spent teaching chemistry in the Jordan School District. He loved spending time fishing with his family at their summer home on the lake. He was a gentleman farmer and enjoyed working with his bees and animals. He was affectionately known as the “Honey” man. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and charity towards all those around him.
His survivors are his wife, Marva Peterson; children, Karl Peterson, Leslie (Dave) Hobbs, Michael (Janice) Peterson, Amy Peterson; and nine grandchildren, all of American Fork. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and his parents.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 20, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the American Fork 13th Ward, 975 North 60 East, American Fork; with a viewing Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork; and also Monday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial is in American Fork Cemetery.
Family suggests donations in lieu of flowers be made to ALS Research, in care of U of U Dept. of Neurology, 50 N. Medical Dr., SLC, UT 84132.
