Arrival on Tuesday October 21st. Took a taxi into town. Checked into the Royal Crown after a Long drive. Then had dinner at Phsar Damnak Restaurant.
Rough Schedule
Having realized that October is still within Vietnam’s typhoon season, I was not sure I would get to Cambodia as planned. But I was lucky and dodged the two tropical storms, landslides and flooding up North at Hi Giang and SAPA and found my way back to then Hanoi in a first class bus, enjoying the countryside. Later, on to the airport to catch a flight to Siem Reap as scheduled. Almost a miricle in hindsight. I landed, took a Taxi to my hotel, a nice place in city center to enjoy a good bed and nice view of the city.
The plan was 3 days in Siem Reap, then on to Phenom Phen. And it worked.

Visited Phnom Kulen Waterfall. It is located within Phnom Kulen National Park, about 48 km northeast of Siem Reap, Cambodia. The park is considered a sacred mountain, and to access the waterfall, one must follow the roads towards Banteay Srei and then turn right to enter the park.
The Killing Fields of Phnom and S21
Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s busy capital, sits at the junction of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers. It was a hub for both the Khmer Empire and French colonialists. On its walkable riverfront, lined with parks, restaurants and bars, are the ornate Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, displaying artifacts from around the country. At the city’s heart is the massive, art deco Central Market.
